Let's Dink ("we," "our," or "the app") is a mobile application for organizing casual pickleball pickup games with friends. Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
Account information. When you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple-provided user identifier and, if you choose to share them, your first name and email address. We store these in Apple's CloudKit service to identify your account.
Phone number (optional). You may provide your phone number during onboarding. We store only a one-way cryptographic hash (SHA-256) of your phone number to help friends discover you in the app. We never store or transmit your raw phone number to any server.
Profile photo (optional). You may upload a profile photo from your device's photo library. The image is stored locally on your device and synced to Apple CloudKit as an encrypted asset associated with your account.
Contacts (with your permission). If you grant access, we read your device contacts to help you find friends who also use the app. Contact data is processed on your device. We send only hashed phone numbers to CloudKit for friend matching — never raw contact names, emails, or phone numbers.
Game data. When you create or join a game, we store game details (date, time, location, players, RSVP status) in Apple CloudKit.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account
- To let you create, join, and manage pickleball games
- To help friends find and invite each other
- To send push notifications about game invites and updates
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or analytics. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third parties.
3. Data Storage and Security
All cloud data is stored in Apple's CloudKit infrastructure, which provides encryption in transit and at rest. Local data on your device (cached games, profile photo) is stored in the app's sandboxed container. We do not operate our own servers — Apple CloudKit is the sole cloud backend.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
Your data is retained as long as you have an active account. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time using the "Delete Account" option in the app's Settings screen. Upon deletion, we permanently remove your user profile, game participation records, hosted games, and profile photo from CloudKit. Cached data on your device is also cleared immediately.

5. Third-Party Services
The app uses the following Apple platform services:
- Sign in with Apple — authentication
- CloudKit — cloud data storage and sync
- Apple Push Notification service (APNs) — game update notifications
- MapKit — location search for game venues
- EventKit — adding games to your calendar (with your permission)
- Contacts framework — friend discovery (with your permission)
We do not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
6. Children's Privacy
Let's Dink is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you. You may also have the right to restrict or object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, use the in-app "Delete Account" feature or contact us at the email below.
California residents (CCPA). You have the right to know what personal information we collect, request its deletion, and opt out of its sale. We do not sell personal information. To make a data request, contact us at the email below.
European Economic Area residents (GDPR). If you are located in the EEA, our legal basis for processing your personal data is your consent (provided when you sign in and grant permissions) and legitimate interest (providing the service you requested). You have the right to: access your data, rectify inaccuracies, erase your data, restrict processing, data portability, and withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights, use the in-app "Delete Account" feature or contact us at the email below. If you believe your rights have been violated, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
International data transfers. Your data is stored in Apple CloudKit, which may process data in data centers outside your country of residence. Apple maintains appropriate safeguards for international transfers in accordance with applicable law.
8. Data Breach Notification
In the unlikely event of a data breach that poses a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify affected users via the email associated with their account within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach. We will also notify the relevant supervisory authority where required by law.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by updating the effective date above. Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
